Some pictures of the polder landscape around the city. This is reclaimed land, between three and six meters below See-level. That's why there are so many ditches for drainage.

The ditches provide rich feeding grounds for all kinds of birds like Grey Herons and Mute Swans.

We had a heatspell in July. It was so hot (well... between 30 and 35 °C for almost two weeks) the hermit crabs, Diogenes Pugilator (1.1 cm), where fleeing the hot beach pools.
